Here you can commission research and connect to our other services.
The Heraldry & Genealogy Society of Canberra has comprehensive holdings of cemetery records and monumental inscriptions. To facilitate access for those who are unable to access the library in person, the Society offers a look up service. The library's holdings of cemetery records are listed in its catalogue, which is available on this website. It should be noted that some records, for example those in the Father Brian Maher Collection, can only be accessed by the researcher, in person. The available titles are in the Library Catalogue. A fee may apply.
Members may obtain free advice by visiting the Library and talking to the people on duty. Further advice about approaches to breaking down brick walls may be obtained through contacting the Research Officer. Assistance with research is also available through participating in the various Special Interest Groups.
The Research Officer undertakes research, using our Society's wide resources, for non-members and Society members either of whom live away from Canberra. For an initial reply, assessing the problem and the probable amount of research needed, the standard fee is $11.00.
Should the inquirer choose to have the research done, the rate is $33.00 per hour, with a minimum charge of $16.50. All fees include GST. The initial $11.00 may be deducted from the final fee in some circumstances. A postal address is required for all inquiries, as replies may include material to be sent by ordinary mail.
