Happy New Year and welcome to 2021, the year of the new normal! I do hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years break and were not too limited by COVID restrictions. Compared to last year when the east coast was on fire, I think the milder weather this year has helped by lowering agitation around the 1-year memories of that time.
Remember that the HAGSOC Library will open again on Tuesday 12 January 2021 at 11am. If you would like to reserve a computer for your first day back researching, please visit our link on https://familyhistoryact.org.au/computer_book/index.php .
In addition to our computer and online resources remember that we have over 5,000 books in our collection and something in our catalogue is sure to relate to your research. For example, monumental inscriptions for that overseas cemetery may show something that a death certificate doesn’t.
Our new Zoom Room in the Education Room is now up and running! Watch for the article in this month’s HHH. Also, our SIGs and SUGs are kicking off for 2021 on Thursday 21 January. Check the Diary Dates in December’s The Ancestral Searcher for information and contact details.
I would like to wish you all success in your various research projects this year, and may all your genealogy wishes come true!
Rosemary McKenzie, President HAGSOC.
